Hi, I'm Ben, the founder of Bit by Bit Computer Science Tuition.
People often ask me why I became a teacher, and the answer goes back to a conversation with my mum.
She told me that whenever someone didn't understand something, I never gave up trying to explain it. I'd look for a different example, draw a diagram, or approach it from another angle until it finally made sense. She smiled and said, “You'd make a great teacher.”
She was right.
That conversation stayed with me, and it eventually led me into teaching Computer Science. Years later, it inspired the name Bit by Bit.
Because that's how I believe learning should work.
Computer Science can feel overwhelming. Whether it's Python programming, algorithms, networking or exam technique, it's easy for students to feel like they're falling behind. My job is to slow things down, remove the pressure and break complex ideas into smaller, manageable steps that build understanding and confidence.
As a former Computer Science teacher and experienced online tutor, I support students studying GCSE and A-Level Computer Science across the OCR, AQA and Edexcel specifications. Every lesson is tailored to the individual student because no two learners are the same. Some need help mastering programming, others want to improve exam technique, and many simply need someone to explain a difficult concept in a way that finally clicks.
I don't believe in rushing through a specification or teaching students to memorise answers. I believe in helping them understand why something works. Once that understanding is there, confidence grows naturally, and better results usually follow.
That same philosophy runs through everything I create, from one-to-one tuition to the free revision resources available on the website. My aim is to make Computer Science clearer, less intimidating and more enjoyable for every student who learns with Bit by Bit.
Whether your child needs regular tuition, help preparing for exams, or support with a topic that's been causing frustration, I'd love to help them discover that Computer Science doesn't have to feel overwhelming.
Sometimes all it takes is someone who is willing to explain it differently.
One concept. One lesson. One step at a time.
Bit by Bit.
