Computer Science Tuition FAQs

Everything you need to know about lessons, support and getting started with Bit by Bit.

Where do the lessons take place?

Lessons are delivered online, so students can learn from home with a calm and focused setup.

Which exam boards do you support?

GCSE tuition supports OCR, AQA and Edexcel Computer Science.

Who do you support?

Bit by Bit provides online one-to-one support from beginner Python and GCSE Computer Science through to A-Level Computer Science.

How much does tuition cost?

The initial 30-minute consultation is free. GCSE Computer Science and Programming Skills tuition are £30 per hour, and A-Level Computer Science tuition is £35 per hour. Weekly and fortnightly sessions are available.

Is the consultation free?

Yes. The 30-minute consultation is free and gives us time to discuss your child’s goals, current confidence and the support they need.

What happens after the free consultation?

If your child’s needs are already clear, we can discuss beginning regular tuition. If it would be helpful to identify specific knowledge, programming or exam-technique gaps first, I may recommend a paid diagnostic lesson followed by clear feedback and suggested priorities. The diagnostic is optional and will only be recommended where it would provide genuine value.

What is a diagnostic lesson?

A diagnostic lesson is a focused one-to-one session designed to identify a learner’s current strengths, gaps and priorities. It may include discussion, carefully selected questions, programming tasks or exam-style activities appropriate to the learner. Afterwards, I provide clear feedback and recommend the most useful next steps. See how the Diagnostic Lesson works.

How does Bit by Bit help?

Computer Science can feel overwhelming when topics are taught all at once. Bit by Bit breaks programming, algorithms, theory and exam technique into clear steps so students build confidence and understanding over time.

Will I receive updates about my child’s progress?

Yes. Regular parent updates provide a clear picture of how your child is doing.

Are free revision resources available?

Yes. The resource library includes free GCSE revision support such as Trace Tables Made Easy, with space for further approved resources.

How do I arrange a session?

Choose Book Tuition to compare the available lesson options. GCSE, A-Level, Programming Skills and Diagnostic lessons use the paid-tuition Calendly calendar. If you are unsure which support is right, arrange an optional free 30-minute consultation through WhatsApp or email.
